Pantech introduced their first smartphone that has an HD touchscreen in the US just last month, in the form of the Pantech Discover for AT&T. Well, it seems that the smartphone company intends to gain a larger footprint in the lower-midrange handset market without breaking the bank with yet another variant of the Pantech Discover, coming in the form of the Pantech Perception for Verizon Wireless. Needless to say, it will also be priced to please, and it the Pantech Perception has already arrived at the FCC, gaining approval in the process – meaning, it should soon be ready for public purchase.

The FCC did snap photos of the Pantech Perception from various angles, and the overall build quality does seem to lean more towards the high end side of things. There were no Verizon branding spotted in the FCC photos, but chances are pretty high that this will change when the Pantech Perception is finally released. We do expect to see such Verizon livery located above the screen, and the back area should see it stamped near the 4G LTE logo. Rumored hardware specifications of the Pantech Perception consist of a 720p HD touchscreen, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and perhaps it will arrive before the end of next month.

Sprint may soon be announcing an entry-level Android smartphone called the Sprint Force LTE. The phone is said to be manufactured by ZTE and is expected to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and feature a 4-inch display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal flash memory, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. As the name would suggest, the Sprint Force LTE would also support Sprint’s LTE network.

This isn’t the first time Sprint and ZTE have partnered up for a device as just a few months ago, the Sprint ZTE Flash was announced to offer a mid-level Android smartphone to Sprint customers. Many of the specs of the two devices are similar, although the Sprint ZTE Flash has a better rear-facing camera as well as more internal flash memory.

Even though the Sprint Force LTE is being considered an entry-level Android phone, we’ve seen entry-level devices with specs worse than what’s being offered with this device. Hopefully we’ll hear more about the Sprint Force LTE before it’s reported release on March 1.

We already know the PlayStation 4 will have some impressive internal specs as it’ll have a 6x Blu-ray drive, 8-core AMD CPU and 8GB of RAM, but one feature that wasn’t revealed during their big unveiling last night was the fact it’ll be able to support 4K displays.

Before you get all excited and even begin to consider purchasing a 4K display, you should know the 4K support won’t be usable for playing games as those will still be displayed at 1080p. Instead, the 4K support will come to playing 4K video streams, which the U.S. is still a few years from achieving at this point.

Being able to deliver games that run on 4K displays would mean a serious bump in resolution as running a game at a 3840 x 2160 resolution would probably melt our brains anyways with the amount of detail developers would have to pump out at a reasonable frame rate. We say we keep the game playing at an already eye-watering 1080p resolution, m’kay?

Yes sir, Instagram with over 90 million users using it each month, has been seen by certain quarters to be a deal breaking for not jumping over to the BlackBerry 10 platform.

It makes sense really, considering how BlackBerry has decided to adopt a fresh and younger approach to their recently released smartphones, and to lack a native BlackBerry 10 app for Instagram is not cool at all. Guess BlackBerry Z10 owners who used to Instagram loads on their previous Android handset might find this news a bit hard to swallow. Is it a deal breaker for you?
